New Jersey is changing the rules. We've got you covered.

New Jersey has enacted a new licensing law (and a new State Board), but individual licensing isn't in effect yet — today home improvement and home elevation contractors still register (HICB/HECB) with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. Here's what that means for your coverage.

General liability

$500K per occurrence for Home Improvement — $1M for Home Elevation, with a $2M aggregate.

New compliance bond

A $10K–$50K bond, sized to your contract value.

Workers' comp

Required as soon as you have an employee — owners already face real personal liability for skipping it.

Subcontractors

Each sub you hire needs their own GL + bond — we help you verify their COIs.

Not sure which applies to you? That's exactly what we figure out for you — in English or Spanish.

In NJ, the fastest way to lose a job is a COI that doesn't match the contract's insurance requirements — wrong limits or missing endorsements. We make sure yours is right the first time, and we get it to you fast.

New Jersey has enacted a new licensing law (and a new State Board), but individual licensing isn't in effect yet — today contractors still register as HICB/HECB with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. We make sure your coverage matches what registration requires.

Under the new rules, home improvement contractors generally need $500K per occurrence, and home elevation contractors $1M. Many general contractors also require $1M/$2M to put you on a job. We read your contract and set the right limits so a COI never holds up your start date.

It's a new bond tied to your business registration, generally between $10,000 and $50,000 depending on the size of your contracts. We help you get the right bond amount and file it correctly — part of keeping your registration in good standing.

In most cases, yes. Once your policy is in place, we issue COIs fast — and we double-check the limits and endorsements match what the contract asks for, so the job doesn't get held up over a paperwork mismatch.

Yes. Those are standard endorsements — additional insured, waiver of subrogation, and hired & non-owned auto. We add them so your COI matches exactly what your GC's contract requires, and we check the wording before you send it.

In New Jersey, workers' comp is required as soon as you have an employee — and under current law, owners who skip it already face real personal (even criminal) liability. We make sure your crew is covered the right way for your trade.
